Morning sickness and tiredness hit me big time this week. Thankfully, it wasn’t as busy with mum related school activities though the weekend was pretty full on. My two friends who know I’m expecting came to my place for drinks once the kids were in bed (though no prosecco for me). It was lovely to chat with them. They did say I’m a bit quieter than usual. Anyone else find that? I know when I was pregnant with Ava I used to let things wash over me more.

I need an afternoon nap now or I’m completely washed out by tea-time. I’m finding that time between 2pm-5pm really hard and I’m so grateful if Takie’s around and I can have a snooze. After some busy days at work I had to knock off early at 2pm and put on my alarm for 3pm so I wouldn’t be late to pick Ava up from school. Went swimming with a friend after drop off, loved it, felt so stretched out and relaxed afterwards. I’ve noticed on days when I’m more active the morning sickness and queasy feeling isn’t quite as bad.

Diet

Very small portions, and if I don’t eat regularly I feel so sick.

How I’m feeling

I’m excited about the midwife appointment and scan next week but nervous as well. Bit worried I’ll be consultant led again because of BMI. Went to see my GP and she said if BMI was combined with another factor like high blood pressure or protein in my urine etc would that be an issue. That the midwife would discuss any referral with me, it wouldn’t just happen. She took my blood pressure which was really good, and I feel happy and healthy so not too worried. Feel a bit more reassured now. I just want the scan to go well next week.

Pregnancy Questions

This week my question for my mum (Sarah Beeson) was…

Q: I’ve got quite a few niggling worries about my antenatal care. How can I approach talking to health professionals without seeming like an over anxious mum?

A: My first tip is to think through what are your main concerns in high to low order. Write out your questions or concerns and keep them in your  pocket or handbag for easy access in case you forget during your appointment. So, if you felt worried about something you’ve noticed e.g. feeling tired suddenly, sickness after certain foods, vaginal discharge, or achy breasts, decide which is most important to you and remind yourself by putting it at the top of your list, incase it’s not covered during your consultation. You can always say politely, ‘I’ve got a couple of queries I’d like to discuss with you.’ All health professionals expect this and it’s impossible in time allotted to cover all eventualities. It’s your antenatal appointment, and your opportunity to ask about what’s relevant to you.

Pregnancy Tip

Before your antenatal appointments write down any questions or concerns you’d like to raise incase you forget. #7weekspregnant #pregnancyproblems #antenatalcare
